Journal Policies

Open Access Policy

The Journal of Biology is a fully open-access journal, meaning all articles are freely available on the internet immediately upon publication. Readers can read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of these articles without financial, legal, or technical barriers, other than those inherent in gaining access to the internet itself. Authors retain copyright of their work, which is published under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) license, allowing others to share and adapt the material as long as proper credit is given to the original authors and source.

Data Sharing and Transparency Policy

To foster reproducibility and accelerate scientific discovery, the Journal of Biology requires authors to make all primary data, code, and analytical materials supporting their published findings publicly accessible. Authors must include a Data Availability Statement in their submission detailing where the data can be found, preferably in a recognized public repository (such as GenBank, Dryad, or GitHub) with a persistent identifier like a DOI. In rare instances where data cannot be made fully open due to privacy, legal, or ethical constraints, authors must explicitly state these limitations and outline how qualified researchers may request access to the underlying data.
